Weekly food waste collections start on Monday 4 January 2027. We will deliver free food waste caddies to every home in December. You do not need to order one.
Find your bin collection day
We empty your black bin and your blue bin on alternate weeks, on the same day of the week. Your day depends on the ward you live in.
What goes in each bin
| Bin | What goes in it | When we collect it |
|---|---|---|
| Black bin | General waste that cannot be recycled, such as nappies, crisp packets, plastic film and polystyrene | Every other week |
| Blue bin | Paper, cardboard, food tins, drinks cans, plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays, and glass bottles and jars | Every other week, in the weeks we do not collect your black bin |
| Green bin | Garden waste, such as grass cuttings, leaves, hedge trimmings and small branches | March to November, if you subscribe |
| Food caddy | All food waste, cooked or raw, including peelings, bones and tea bags | Every week, from Monday 4 January 2027 |
Rinse tins, cans and bottles before you put them in your blue bin. Put recycling in loose, not in plastic bags.
Garden waste collections
Garden waste collections cost £48 a year. We collect green bins from March to November.
To subscribe, email waste@larkhaven.example or call 01632 960 000. Tell us your name, address and phone number. If you do not already have a green bin, we will deliver one.
Large items and extra waste
We can collect large items, such as furniture and fridges, from outside your home. It costs £25 for up to 3 items and £8 for each extra item, up to 8 items. Book a bulky waste collection.
You can take most household waste, including garden waste, electrical items and wood, to one of our recycling centres.
