Call 01632 960 000 or email registrars@larkhaven.example. The Register Office is on the ground floor of City Hall, 1 Quay Square, Larkhaven LK1 1AA.

Register a birth

You must register a birth within 42 days. It is free to register.

If the parents are married or in a civil partnership, either parent can register the birth. If they are not, both parents need to come to the appointment for both names to go on the register.

Bring proof of identity for each parent who attends, such as a passport or driving licence.

Register a death

You must register a death within 5 days. The doctor or hospital will send us the medical certificate of cause of death and tell you when to book an appointment.

A relative, someone who was there at the death, or the person arranging the funeral can register it.

If the death has been reported to a coroner, you cannot register it until the coroner says you can. We will tell you what to do.

When you register a death, we can let other council services know, such as council tax, parking and libraries, so that you do not have to contact each one yourself.

Marriages and civil partnerships

You can hold your ceremony at City Hall, Quayside Chapel or one of 23 approved venues in Larkhaven.

You must both give notice at the Register Office at least 29 days before the ceremony. Bring your passports and proof of your address. Book your notice appointment as soon as you have a date and a venue.

The fee depends on the venue and the day of the week. We will tell you the fee when you book.

An elegant empty hall with crystal chandeliers, tall windows and chairs set along the walls, ready for a ceremony.

Certificate copies

A copy of a birth, death, marriage or civil partnership certificate costs £12.50. We can supply copies for events registered in Larkhaven.

To order, email registrars@larkhaven.example with the full name of the person, and the date and place of the event. We will post the certificate within 10 working days.

Citizenship ceremonies

If you have been granted British citizenship, you will be invited to a citizenship ceremony. We hold group ceremonies at City Hall twice a month. Read about our autumn ceremony.
