Larkhaven is a fictional city and this website is a demonstration. This statement describes how the website itself works. The contact details in it are fictional, so nobody will reply.
Using this website
We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. You should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts using your browser or device settings
- zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
- move around the whole website using just a keyboard
- move around most of the website using speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader
- stop animations, because the website follows the reduced motion setting on your device
We have also made the text as simple as possible to understand.
How the website is designed
- Every page has a link at the top to skip to the main content.
- Links, buttons and form fields show a thick amber outline when you move to them with a keyboard.
- Text and background colours have a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1.
- Every control is a real link, button or form field, so it works with assistive technology.
- Headings are in order, so screen reader users can move between sections.
- Form fields have labels above them, and error messages appear next to the field they relate to.
- Wide tables scroll sideways on small screens instead of shrinking the text.
- Fonts and icons are stored on this website, and pages do not load anything from other websites.
Known issues
We know that some parts of this website are not fully accessible:
- meeting agendas and minutes are PDF documents, and some may not work well with screen readers
- comments on consultations are written by members of the public, so they may not be in plain English, and some contain emoji
