Line 3 is the biggest change to getting around Larkhaven in a generation. It puts thousands of homes in Saltmarsh and Eastcliff within half an hour of the University and the jobs around it, and it gives people a real alternative to the car.
Deputy Mayor Kwame Asante
Sunita Kaur, Managing Director of Larkhaven Transit, said: “Our drivers have been training on the line since the summer, and we can’t wait to welcome our first passengers. Come and see behind the scenes at the depot on opening day.”
Stay safe around the new line
Until the opening, you’ll see trams running on Line 3 without passengers while drivers train and the system is tested. The overhead power lines are already live, so please:
- look both ways before crossing the tracks: trams are quiet and can’t swerve
- only cross at marked crossings
- if you’re cycling, cross the rails as close to a right angle as you can, so your wheels don’t get caught
- never park on or next to the tracks
Open day at Saltmarsh depot
On Saturday 21 November, from 10:00 to 16:00, you can look round the depot where the Line 3 trams are maintained, try the driver training simulator and meet the engineers who built the line. It’s free and there’s no need to book. Find out more about the open day.
