Follow a 2 km trail of 40 light installations along the Quayside waterfront, every evening from Friday 6 to Sunday 15 November, 17:00–22:00. Quay Lights is free and there are no tickets.
What to expect
- work by 26 artists, 11 of them from Larkhaven
- Lantern Flock: 300 paper larks made by local schoolchildren, suspended above Quay Square
- Tidal Choir: light and sound along the harbour wall that rise and fall with the tide
- food and hot drinks stalls on Quay Square
The trail starts at Quay Square and takes about 90 minutes at a gentle pace. Pick up a trail map at City Hall, Central Library or the information point on Quay Square.
Accessibility
- The whole trail is step-free, with seating along the route.
- Relaxed sessions run on Monday 9 and Tuesday 10 November, 17:00–18:30, with sound turned down and no flashing effects.
- Accessible toilets are in the pavilion on Quay Square.
Some installations use flashing or flickering light. They’re marked on the trail map, which also shows a route that avoids them.
Getting there
There’s no event parking. Trams run as normal, and Lark Bikes has docking stations close to the trail. Quay Road is being resurfaced overnight from 2 to 20 November, between 20:00 and 06:00, so expect lane closures near the trail later in the evening. See roadworks and closures.
