Bring a plant, take a plant. Our Autumn Plant Swap at Wren Valley Community Garden is a free, friendly way to refresh your garden, balcony or windowsill, meet other gardeners and give your spare plants a new home.
What to bring
- healthy houseplants, cuttings and seedlings, in pots
- spare seeds and bulbs, labelled with what they are
- pots and seed trays you no longer need
Please don’t bring plants that are diseased or invasive, such as Japanese knotweed or Himalayan balsam. If you don’t have anything to swap, come anyway: there are always plenty of plants to go round.
What to expect
- advice on autumn planting from community garden volunteers and our parks team
- a seed library where you can take and leave seeds for next spring
- a composting demonstration at 11:30
- hot drinks and homemade cake, with donations to the garden welcome
The same weekend, Wren Valley Recycling Centre on Mill Lane is giving away free compost, so bring some bags. See recycling centres for details.
Accessibility and travel
The garden has firm, step-free paths, raised beds and an accessible toilet. Take tram Line 2 (Blue) to Wren Valley: the garden is a five-minute walk from the stop.
Harbour Bridge is closed for repairs from 06:00 on Saturday 24 October to 06:00 on Monday 26 October. If you’re driving and your route crosses it, use the diversion via Northbank Bridge. See roadworks and closures.
